During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, Beijing's Miyun District will give full play to its role as the capital's most important water source protection area, unswervingly protect green waters and green mountains, better guarantee the functions of serving the capital, and promote the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.

The ecological restoration project of the vacated space of the Miyun Reservoir Level 1 protected area will be completed.
Yu Haibo, deputy secretary of the Miyun District Committee and District Mayor of Beijing, said that Miyun District will focus on water ecological construction, scientifically build and manage the reservoir coastal zone, water conservation forest, and ecological corridors, complete the ecological restoration project of the vacated space of the Miyun Reservoir Level 1 protected area, strengthen the protection of wetland ecosystems and biodiversity, actively apply for national wetland projects, hold the International Crane Festival, and create a national soil and water conservation demonstration area.
Focus on water environment governance, deepen the joint construction, joint prevention and joint control mechanism in upstream areas, conduct water quality surveys and studies in the Miyun Reservoir basin, strengthen water quality monitoring of rivers entering and entering the reservoir, and strictly prevent pollution from entering the reservoir; promote green organic planting in the Miyun Reservoir basin to improve the effectiveness of total nitrogen control.
Focusing on the utilization of water resources, we will in-depth implement the improvement of infrastructure and industries around Miyun Reservoir, promote the transformation and upgrading of "water purification fisheries", plan and promote new models such as localization of fry breeding, scientific release, and standardized fishing, so as to achieve the unity of water source protection, green development, and improvement of people's livelihood.

Yu Haibo said that in the first half of this year, Miyun District's 74 post-disaster reconstruction "one-year basic recovery" tasks were all completed; 30 hard measures were fully implemented to improve Beijing's flood prevention, risk avoidance and disaster relief capabilities, and effectively responded to multiple heavy rainfall tests. Before the flood, 9.3 million cubic meters of rivers were dredged, and 33,000 square meters of illegal construction in rivers were demolished.
Yu Haibo said that Miyun District will coordinate short-term emergency response and long-term development, focus on improving shortcomings, strengths and weaknesses, and improve capabilities, accelerate the "three-year comprehensive improvement", and promote the construction of key projects such as Qingshui River, Baimaguan River, Andamu River comprehensive improvement after disasters, and Yunxi River management; scientifically plan "long-term high-quality development" projects , continue to improve the disaster resilience of reservoir basins, transportation networks, infrastructure, public service facilities and other fields, build a modern monitoring and early warning system, continuously enhance the support, resilience and transformation ability to respond to major emergencies, and promote the transformation of disaster prevention and reduction results into ecological dividends and people's livelihood benefits of "wetting the city with water".

Yu Haibo said that during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, Miyun District will accelerate the development of urban modern agriculture, build 54,100 acres of high-standard farmland, and promote the planted area of facility agriculture to 10,000 acres. Implement Beijing’s “Beijing Product” agricultural high-quality development strategy, continue to build characteristic tomato industry clusters, and build 15 district-level high-standard demonstration parks and 10 “one village, one product” professional tomato planting villages. Develop facility fisheries and promote farming models such as "aquaponic symbiosis" and "fish farming in suspended water".
He said that Miyun District will continue to build the cultural tourism IP of "Come to Miyun to See the Sea" and continuously improve the quality of rural tourism. Create high-quality rural tourism destinations, build 25 leisure agricultural parks, 15 beautiful leisure villages, and 5 rural leisure tourism routes, and cultivate more new tourism consumption scenarios.
