Truck crashes into the soundproof wall of the Pyeongchon Viaduct... Debris hits taxi on road below

At around 6:55 p.m. on the 5th, an accident occurred on the Pyeongchon Viaduct near Pyeongchon IC on the 1st Ring Expressway in Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, in the direction of Ilsan, when a 25-ton cargo truck hit the soundproof wall next to the road.

In this accident, the truck driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, including complaining of pelvic pain.

In addition, debris from the soundproof wall that was broken in the collision fell onto the road near Singi Intersection under the overpass and hit a passing taxi, causing minor injuries to the driver and two passengers.

The accident occurred when a truck traveling in the fourth of four lanes each way hit the guardrail on the right side of the Pyeongchon IC entrance and then collided with a passenger car merging onto the highway.

The truck then drove into the soundproof wall on the right side and crashed into it.

As some lanes were closed to deal with the accident, traffic congestion occurred about 1km behind the rush hour.

Anyang City sent out a disaster text message at 7:38 p.m., announcing that the road in the direction of Seoul at Singi Intersection was closed and asking vehicles to detour.

The police are checking whether the truck driver was drunk and investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
