Unit 1 of China's highest ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generation project comes into operation

China News Service, Xining, November 5 (Sun Rui, Hong Xiaomin) Unit 1 of Qinghai Huadian Golmud Phase I 2×660MW coal power project successfully passed the 168-hour trial operation on the 5th, marking that Unit 1 of China’s highest ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generation project has officially entered commercial operation.

The project is located in Golmud City, Hainan Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, with an average altitude of about 2,850 meters. The total investment is about 6.2 billion yuan and the designed annual power generation is about 6 billion kilowatt hours. After the project is put into operation at full capacity, it will be able to meet the electricity needs of approximately 6.6 million residents for a year.

Unit 1, which was put into operation this time, was successfully selected into the list of the first major technical equipment (set) in the energy field in the fifth batch of the National Energy Administration of China. It effectively solved the industry problems of "high altitude, high alkali coal, and deep peak shaving" and filled the gap in high-altitude coal power technology innovation.

At the same time, the project relies on dedicated railway lines and new energy vehicles to build a clean transportation system to reduce pollutant emissions in the transfer process. Golmud City's reclaimed water is effectively utilized to achieve closed-loop consumption of waste and sewage throughout the plant with zero external discharge. The comprehensive utilization rate of ash, slag and gypsum reaches 100%, and the boiler flue gas pollutant emissions meet ultra-low emission standards.

In addition, by playing the role of peak shaving, frequency modulation and voltage support, the project can reduce the abandonment of wind and light, ensure the stable delivery of green electricity, effectively play the role of a "stabilizer" of new energy, strengthen the foundation for regional development and social electricity security, and help solve the "Shago shortage" consumption problem.
