(Chuncheon = Yonhap News) Reporter Jaehyun Lee = Gangwon Province is expanding technical guidance to prevent industrial accidents at small-scale construction sites that are excluded from the mandatory disaster prevention technical guidance.

According to the province on the 27th, the Road Management Office will provide disaster prevention technical guidance services to small-scale construction works exceeding the standard amount for private contracts and less than 100 million won starting from October 1st.

Currently, construction sites with a construction amount of more than 100 million won are legally required to receive disaster prevention technical guidance.

In addition, the province decided to expand the scope of technical guidance to include construction exceeding the standard amount for negotiated contracts among construction projects costing less than 100 million won, which had been excluded from legal obligations.

This measure is in response to the recent series of industrial accidents, including fatal accidents, at small-scale construction sites.

Accordingly, a designated construction disaster prevention professional guidance organization visits the construction site, inspects harmful and risk factors, and guides improvement measures tailored to the characteristics of the site.

Ryu Hyun-mo, head of the provincial road management office, said, “Small-scale sites are often vulnerable to safety management, so preemptive guidance and inspection are important,” and added, “We will strive to ensure the safety of field workers.”
