Gyeonggi Red Cross conducts volunteer work for vulnerable groups in celebration of the Chuseok holiday

(Suwon = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Sol = The Gyeonggi Province Governor of the Korean Red Cross (Gyeonggi Red Cross) announced on the 27th that it carried out various volunteer activities, including food sharing events, to celebrate the Chuseok holiday.

On the 23rd, the Suwon City Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society carried out volunteer work to package songpyeon and deliver it to vulnerable households.

About 30 volunteers visited 272 households in Suwon and shared warmth by delivering songpyeon.

Seongnam City Council held a food sharing event to celebrate Chuseok at the Gyeonggi Red Cross Central Volunteer Center on the 21st and 22nd.

Volunteers went door-to-door to 250 households in Seongnam city and shared homemade beef bulgogi, bellflower salad, egg side dishes, songpyeon, and kimchi.

About 100 volunteers from the Ansan City Council also visited about 300 households in Ansan City on the 18th and 19th and delivered hand-cooked beef bulgogi and perilla leaf pancakes.

An event was also held to console separated families who were feeling a deep sense of longing for their families and hometowns during the holidays.

On the 14th, volunteers from the Gyeonggi Red Cross visited the home of A, a woman in her 80s, in Osan-si, inspected her living conditions, and delivered consolation money and comfort items.

Meanwhile, the Korean Red Cross is promoting various humanitarian projects such as providing consolation services during the holidays, operating video reunion centers for separated families, and producing life reports for separated families.

An official from the Gyeonggi Red Cross said, “We will continue to pay attention to and provide support to the vulnerable in the community to ensure that no one is left behind during the holidays.”
