On the third day of the Chuseok holiday, congestion on the way home is gradually eased... Nationwide traffic volume estimated at 5.9 million vehicles

On the evening of the 26th, the third day of the Chuseok holiday, traffic congestion on major highways on the way home to Gyeonggi Province is gradually easing.

According to the Korea Expressway Corporation, as of 9 p.m., the estimated travel time from major cities across the country to Seoul toll booths is 5 hours in Busan, 4 hours and 40 minutes in Ulsan, 4 hours and 20 minutes in Mokpo, 4 hours and 20 minutes in Gwangju, 4 hours in Daegu, 2 hours and 40 minutes in Gangneung, and 2 hours and 50 minutes in Daejeon.

As of 1 p.m. on this day, the travel time from Busan to Seoul was 7:50, and congestion is gradually resolving.

However, vehicle flow is still slow in areas such as 26km near Cheongju Junction to Cheongju Rest Area on the Seoul-bound Gyeongbu Line, 12km near Seogyangyang-Inje Tunnel towards Seoul on the Seoul-Yangyang Line, and 23km near Dangjin-Poseung Junction towards Seoul on the West Coast Line.

The road construction company predicted that the congestion on the return route would be resolved around 2 to 3 a.m. the next day.

On the way home, most of the traffic congestion was resolved around 7 to 8 p.m.

The travel time from Seoul to each city is 4 hours and 30 minutes for Busan, 4 hours and 10 minutes for Ulsan, 3 hours and 40 minutes for Mokpo, 3 hours and 20 minutes for Gwangju, 3 hours and 30 minutes for Daegu, 2 hours and 40 minutes for Gangneung, and 1 hour and 30 minutes for Daejeon.

National traffic volume on this day was expected to be about 5.9 million vehicles. The corporation expected that 380,000 vehicles would move from the metropolitan area to the provinces and 520,000 units from the provinces to the metropolitan area.

As the procession to return home continues, congestion is appearing on some sections of major roads in downtown Seoul.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government's traffic information system, vehicles traveling up Gangbyeonbuk-ro are not able to speed up near Gayang Bridge. On the way down, a congested section was formed near Dongho Bridge to Hannam Bridge.

On the northern main road, vehicle flow is slow between Sinnae Interchange and Mukdong Interchange toward Jongam Junction.
