In Pakistan, an explosion at a police checkpoint killed 11 people.

An explosion in the Pakistani district of Dera Ismail Khan, which killed 11 people, occurred during an attack on a police checkpoint, the Dawn newspaper reports, citing police.

Earlier, Reuters reported that 11 people were killed and 30 injured in an explosion in the Dera Ismail Khan district in the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to Reuters, the terrorist organization Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack.

“A police checkpoint in Darazinda locality in Dera Ismail Khan district was the target of a bomb attack on Saturday,” the newspaper reported.

Emergency services noted that among the dead were eight men, two women and a child. Rescue teams continue to work at the scene of the explosion. The nature and causes of the explosion are being clarified, the newspaper adds.
