The 11th National Academic Competition of Andrew Charity Association was announced and 150 students won prizes

In order to allow rural and disadvantaged children to explore their artistic talents, the Andrew Charity Association organizes the "National Arts and Crafts Competition" every year to provide children with opportunities to show off their talents. This year marks the 11th edition. The winners were announced today (11th). A total of 150 students stood out from 1,996 entries to showcase their personal art, style and imagination.

Luo Shaohe, CEO of the association, said that the association has long been concerned about the growth of children from rural areas and disadvantaged families. In addition to providing life support, it also hopes that children will have the opportunity to discover their own interests and abilities as they grow up. Therefore, the association has held national academic competitions since 2016 to provide children with a stage to showcase their talents, accumulate self-confidence, and be seen and recognized.

This year's competition received a total of 1,996 entries from students across the country. The competition covered four categories: painting, calligraphy, composition, and "hard-tipped calligraphy," which was added for the first time this year. After rigorous selection by the jury, a total of 150 students stood out. It is worth noting that among the outstanding and outstanding works of the junior high school group and the 5th and 6th grade groups, works with the theme of school bullying appeared invariably.

Judge Huang Weici said that the children's description of their experiences and feelings of facing bullying through words not only showed their observations of school issues, but also reflected their thoughts on peer interactions and interpersonal relationships. These creations allow adults to see the campus phenomena that children are concerned about, and also remind adults that they should listen to their children's voices and accompany them to build a growing environment of friendliness, respect and mutual support.

The hard-pen calligraphy category, which was added for the first time, hopes to encourage children to pick up the pen again and cultivate beauty, concentration and patience from each stroke. The contestants try to draw nutrients from different inscriptions and show their exploration of the art of calligraphy. Judge Lin Zhengrong said that the children went back to the ancient copybooks to find their roots, learned the brushwork and charm from the works of famous artists, and gradually established their own writing style. In terms of painting works, the themes extend from family life and urban landscape to the ocean, natural ecology, machinery and architecture, etc., diversifying children's observations of life and the environment. Judge Pan Pengbin said that this year’s works can show children’s mature thinking and emotional expression. Even in the face of the rapid development of AI, hand-painted creations still retain their unique warmth and personal characteristics. Painting is not only a technical practice, but also an important way to observe the world, express emotions and cultivate a sense of beauty.
