The Russian Ministry of Health has expanded the list of non-drug treatments for depression in adults

The Russian Ministry of Health has expanded the list of non-drug methods for the prevention and treatment of depression in adults.

The list includes methods such as electropuncture, stimulation of brain neurons and ultrafiltration of blood.

Promazine, thioridazine, chlorprothixene, olanzapine and imipramine were excluded from the list of drugs used in the treatment of depression.

MOSCOW, September 27 - RIA Novosti. The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has expanded the list of non-drug methods for the prevention and treatment of depression in adults, including electropuncture, stimulation of brain neurons and blood ultrafiltration, according to the new ministry standard.

The corresponding order of the Russian Ministry of Health on approval of the standard of medical care for adults with depressive disorder is posted on the website of the official publication of legal acts.

“Non-drug methods of prevention, treatment and medical rehabilitation: electropuncture... electrical neurostimulation of the brain... blood ultrafiltration,” the text of the document says.

Also on the list are acupuncture with extremely high frequency currents, transcranial magnetic stimulation, plasmapheresis, hypoxia exposure and intravenous blood irradiation.
