Deputy Kolesnik announced heavy fighting near Krasny Liman

In the battles near Krasny Liman, codenamed “Vivaldi,” there are heavy oncoming battles, but the situation remains under control, said Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee. In a conversation with Lenta.ru, he said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to break through the defenses and disrupt the exit of Russian troops to the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, but so far these attempts have not brought results.

“They are trying to break through the defenses in the Krasny Liman area, but there are now oncoming battles there, our situation is slowly stabilizing. Their task is to break through and disrupt our access to the Slavyansko-Kramatorsk agglomeration. We are holding it for now, introducing reserves, they are also introducing reserves, the fighting is heavy, but the situation is absolutely under control,” the deputy explained.

According to him, the enemy has advanced and occupied several villages on the outskirts, but these kilometers are not worth the losses incurred. “Vivaldi,” the parliamentarian explained, is one of the last reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU): they are holding on to a bridgehead in order to reach the Zherebets River and gain a foothold there, but this is already a project that only leads to heavy losses, he noted. The Russian side is using artillery, aviation and drones of various types, striking the enemy.

Kolesnik noted that there is no continuous line of defense there, so the dynamics change, and the battles are positional in nature.

“In war it doesn’t happen that you are constantly advancing. Somewhere the enemy has gone deeper, but overall the situation is stable: ours, in a tough defense, are destroying the enemy’s manpower and equipment. If the Ukrainian Armed Forces group is defeated there, it will be a serious defeat for them, and our offensive will be much more dynamic,” the parliamentarian concluded.
