In Chelyabinsk, a woman was convicted of financing extremist activities. Lenta.ru was informed about this by the investigative department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the region.

She was found guilty under Articles 282.2 (“Participation in the activities of an extremist organization”) and 282.3 (“Financing extremist activities”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

As the court found, a 57-year-old local resident took part in the activities of a banned religious organization from September 6, 2017 to September 8, 2022. During meetings and gatherings, she carried out active preaching activities, encouraged other people to participate in the activities of the organization, distributed educational and methodological literature and information materials with extremist content.

The woman also provided services intended to finance an extremist organization. She made her apartment available for holding meetings and conversations with city residents aimed at promoting her activities, and also stored information materials with extremist content on electronic media.

The court sentenced her to four years in a general regime colony.
