Since 2023, my country has fully implemented centralized procurement of medical consumables such as oral implants and orthodontic brackets. The once "sky-high price of dental implants" has gradually become inclusive. According to statistics, in the past three years, the average annual growth rate of dental implant surgery services in public hospitals across the country has reached 71%.

In 2023, under the guidance of the National Medical Insurance Bureau, the Sichuan Provincial Medical Insurance Bureau will lead the alliance provinces to carry out collective procurement of implants, reducing the average price of a single dental implant from 15,000 yuan to 6,000-7,000 yuan. The Shaanxi Provincial Medical Insurance Bureau led 16 provinces to carry out centralized procurement of orthodontic bracket products in 2022. After three years of intensive work, the dividends of the centralized procurement of oral consumables for the people have been fully released. According to statistics, public medical institutions across the country have actually purchased 3.47 million implant systems in three years; the number of dental implant surgery services has jumped from 214,000 in 2022 to 892,000 in 2025, effectively activating the market vitality in the field of oral implants and better meeting the public's medical needs.

Wang Xiaoning, Director of the Department of Pharmaceutical Pricing and Bidding and Procurement of the National Medical Insurance Administration: The burden on patients has been significantly reduced. In terms of dental implants, three measures have been taken: centralized procurement of implants, dental crown mesh, and service price regulation. In terms of orthodontics, centralized procurement has fully included mainstream consumables such as metal, ceramics, and invisible brackets, which has effectively alleviated the public's pain point of "expensive dental care". The demand for diagnosis and treatment has been fully released, and the actual purchase completion rate of orthodontic brackets in the 16 alliance provinces has reached 118%, successfully completing the volume commitment.

The continuous collection of dental medical consumables has started

Currently, the first round of agreements for the collective purchase of oral implants and orthodontic brackets has expired. In accordance with the deployment of the National Medical Insurance Administration, on September 28, Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces took the lead in launching the continuous procurement of oral implants and orthodontic medical consumables.
