Iran leaves Soleimani's picture on the UN table during Netanyahu's speech

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ismail Baghaei, commented on the Iranian delegation’s placement of a picture of the former commander of the Iranian Quds Force, Qasem Soleimani - who was killed in an American drone strike near Baghdad airport in early 2020 - on his table before leaving the United Nations General Assembly session, on Thursday, in conjunction with a speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to the official Iranian “IRNA” news agency, Baghaei said in a post on his account on the “X” platform, previously Twitter: “History remembers some of the deceased more than the living. They still keep the enemy on his toes because they are still fresh in his memory.”

He added: "When the ill-fated presence of the notorious butcher of Gaza, and Iran's arch enemy, at the United Nations General Assembly meeting, most of the attendees left the hall in disgust at his evil actions and malice," he said.

He pointed out that the Iranian delegation, before leaving the hall, left a picture of Soleimani “to remind the audience of the prestige of (our great martyr), and to further mislead the mind of the evil one, and make him see the spider’s house of whims as more fragile than ever before,” as he described it.

Netanyahu had stated before the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday that the fall of the Iranian government was “only a matter of time,” expecting that the Iranian people would enjoy freedom one day.

Addressing the demonstrators outside the United Nations headquarters and the international delegates who withdrew while he was delivering his speech, Netanyahu asked: “Where were you when the Iranian tyrants slaughtered and mutilated tens of thousands of defenseless Iranian civilians?”
