The Kaohsiung District Court determined that the relationship between the two parties was a loan and did not constitute a crime of corruption. It violated the Personal Information Law and sentenced Li to 3 years in prison. He refused to accept the appeal, and the Kaohsiung High Branch considered that he could reconcile with some of the victims and commuted his sentence to 2 years in July.
