According to the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education on the 13th, in a survey conducted from April 14 to May 13 among 4th grade elementary school to 3rd grade high school students, the response rate of victims who responded that they were victims of school violence was 2.9%.

This is the same level as the national average, and is a 0.3 percentage point increase from last year's Ulsan damage response rate of 2.6%.

By school level, 5.9% were elementary school students, 2.1% middle school students, and 0.8% high school students. By grade, 4th grade elementary school students had the highest rate at 7.9%.

The most common type of damage was verbal violence at 37.9%. This was followed by group bullying at 17.0%, physical violence at 15.7%, and cyberbullying at 6.8%. Compared to last year, verbal violence decreased by 0.6 percentage points, while group bullying and physical violence increased by 1.2 percentage points and 0.9 percentage points, respectively.

The majority of damaged areas were inside schools, at 71.1%. Inside the school, 28.2% were in classrooms, 16.9% in hallways and stairs, and 9.7% in playgrounds, gymnasiums, and auditoriums.

The highest rate of damage was during recess at 30.8%, and the rate of reporting the damage to guardians or teachers was 91.0%.

The response rate for witnessing school violence was 6.8%, 0.1 percentage points higher than the national average. By school level, it was relatively high in elementary schools: 11.3% in elementary schools, 6.3% in middle schools, and 2.5% in high schools.

79,664 Ulsan students participated in this survey, showing a participation rate of 83.4%.

The city office of education plans to expand and operate restorative life education and conflict resolution dialogue groups to reduce school violence.

In addition, by operating an elementary school relationship recovery program, when a case is received for school violence targeting lower grades (1st to 3rd graders), educational recovery efforts are prioritized through a dialogue meeting before deliberation by a dedicated body.

In addition, 'visiting school violence and crime prevention education' is implemented for first and second year middle school students, where a school police officer visits the school in person.
