Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education holds finals of ‘2026 Bilingual Speech Contest’

The Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education held the final round of the ‘2026 Bilingual Speech Contest’ at the Gonggam Hall of the main office on the 12th.

This competition, now in its 14th year, was designed to help students with immigrant backgrounds in the province develop their skills in Korean and the language of their parents' country, thereby increasing their self-esteem and linguistic strengths.

On this day, a total of 24 students, including 14 elementary school students and 10 middle school students who passed the previous preliminary round (46 elementary school students and 24 middle school students), participated and engaged in a heated competition.

In the finals, students speaking 10 languages, including Japanese, Russian, Chinese, and Vietnamese, went on stage and received support from participating students, their families, and teachers.

The top three finalists (elementary and middle school students) will represent Gyeongnam in the national bilingual speech contest held in Seoul in November.

The final winner will be announced next week.

Jeong Seon-hee, head of the career education department at the Provincial Office of Education, said, “We will spare no effort in providing customized support so that students can utilize their linguistic strengths to grow into confident members of our society and future talents who will be active on the world stage.”
