From 2026, Russia will introduce an annual tax payment for families with children

MOSCOW, September 17 - RIA Novosti. Parents who have more than two children under 18 years of age, and the average income for each family member does not exceed the regional subsistence level by one and a half times, can return part of the personal income tax paid from 2026, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Yana Lantratova told RIA Novosti.

“Since 2026, a new annual family payment has appeared. In fact, working parents of two or more children, subject to the conditions, can return part of the personal income tax paid. It is provided for families where children under 18 years of age are taken into account, and if the child is a full-time student, up to 23 years of age. The average per capita family income should not exceed the regional subsistence level by one and a half times,” Lantratova said.

According to her, when assigning payments, the family’s property and the absence of alimony arrears are also taken into account.

“The calculation mechanism is as follows: the difference between the personal income tax paid and the tax on the same income calculated for the purposes of payment at a rate of 6% is determined,” the commissioner explained.

At the same time, Lantratova emphasized, if both parents comply with the conditions, everyone can apply.
