On September 10, the Mining International Cooperation Ministers Forum and the opening ceremony of the 2026 China International Mining Conference were held in Tianjin. Representatives from 60 countries and international organizations around the world attended the meeting. The theme of this forum and conference is "Win-win Cooperation and Green Intelligence", and the forum issued the "Tianjin Declaration on Green Mining Development".
The "Tianjin Declaration on Green Development of Mining" puts forward initiatives in ten aspects: practicing the concept of green development, improving resource utilization efficiency, actively responding to climate change, promoting the application of green and low-carbon technologies, improving mine production efficiency and safety levels, strengthening the sharing of green mining experience, building a stable and sustainable industrial chain, building a governance mechanism for fair participation and equal benefits, encouraging collaborative innovation of industry, academia and research, and deepening global green mining cooperation. It calls on countries around the world to join hands to promote the transformation of the global mining industry to green and low carbon, promote global sustainable development, and make positive contributions to building a beautiful future in which man and nature coexist harmoniously.
The reporter learned from the forum that China has established a complete system, standard system, and evaluation system for the green development of the mining industry, built more than 5,000 green mines, and vigorously promoted technologies such as backfill mining, comprehensive utilization of solid waste, and clean energy substitution in mining areas. It has achieved outstanding results in resource conservation and comprehensive utilization, recycling, and energy conservation and emission reduction. It is a firm practitioner and active advocate of the green transformation of the global mining industry. Cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and 5G have been deeply integrated into the entire mining development process. China has made a series of breakthroughs in the fields of intelligent mine construction and mining machinery manufacturing, and the formation of new productivity in the mining industry has been accelerated. Asia's first Wanmike exploration well was successfully drilled in China; the "Dream" ocean drilling ship has a maximum drilling depth of 11,000 meters, ranking first in the world in drilling capacity; more than 1,000 intelligent coal mines have been built, accounting for more than 65% of production capacity, and overall efficiency has been greatly improved.
It is reported that China is the world's largest producer, consumer and trading country of mineral products. In 2025, among the world's 50 major mineral products, China will rank first in the world in terms of consumption of more than 30 mineral products and first in the world in import volume of more than 20 mineral products. Mineral product imports will exceed US$700 billion, accounting for 23% of the world, ranking first in the world. China has been committed to promoting the establishment of a global mining governance system that is open, inclusive, fair and reasonable, has win-win cooperation, and is green and clean. In 2025, at the 20th G20 Leaders' Summit, China and relevant parties proposed the "Green Minerals International Economic and Trade Cooperation Initiative." Currently, more than 30 countries and international organizations have joined and supported the initiative. China has implemented foreign-aid geological survey projects in many countries for more than 20 consecutive years, held more than 310 foreign-aid training courses, and trained more than 8,600 people in more than 140 countries, leaving valuable human resources for the host countries.
The China International Mining Conference is an important annual mining event in the world, and this year is the 28th. This conference will be held from September 10th to 12th. Forums, exhibitions and mining rights trading activities will be held focusing on high-quality development of mining, construction of green mines and smart mines, ecological restoration of mines, intelligentization of mining engineering machinery and equipment, etc., attracting more than 650 domestic and foreign companies to participate in the conference.
