China News Service, Beijing, September 10 (Reporter Wang Mengyao) The 12th Asia-Pacific High-end Energy Sustainable Development Forum and the APEC Energy Ministers’ Dialogue Business Forum were held in Beijing on the 10th. As one of the 2026 APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) "Year of China" Beijing Energy Conference Week series activities, this forum has the theme of "Asia-Pacific Energy Governance and Sustainable Development". Representatives attending the forum conducted exchanges and discussions around the challenges and strategies of Asia-Pacific energy collaborative governance.
Wang Jianbo, deputy director of the National Energy Administration of China, said at the forum that China adheres to green and low-carbon, innovation-led, open cooperation, and accelerates energy transformation. As of the first half of 2026, China's installed renewable energy power generation capacity has reached 2.455 billion kilowatts, accounting for 60.7% of the country's total installed electricity capacity. New energy industries such as wind power and photovoltaics have accelerated their development, and new technologies, new models, and new business formats in the energy field have continued to emerge, contributing more experience and solutions to the sustainable development of global energy. As an active advocate and staunch practitioner of APEC energy cooperation, China initiated the establishment of the APEC Sustainable Energy Center at the 11th APEC Energy Ministers’ Meeting in 2014. Over the past 12 years, with the support of all parties, the APEC Sustainable Energy Center has continued to function as a think tank and platform based on the needs of Asia-Pacific energy transformation and sustainable development, and contributed important public goods to the Asia-Pacific region. China is willing to work with all member economies, rely on the APEC energy cooperation mechanism, give full play to the role of APEC's sustainable energy center, deepen mutual trust, and jointly promote the sustainable development of Asia-Pacific energy to a new level.
During the forum, China’s independent contribution to APEC’s “Year of China”, the “Cooperation Framework for Jointly Building APEC Zero-Carbon/Near-Zero Carbon Cities”, as well as the 12-year construction results of the APEC Sustainable Energy Center and the “15th Five-Year Plan” development plan were officially released.

The European Court of Auditors has warned that the EU's efforts to wean itself from dependence on Russian oil and natural gas have stalled and that the scale of investment is seriously insufficient. As winter is about to begin, EU natural gas inventories only amount to 67%, far lower than the 80% in the same period last year, which may trigger the risk of skyrocketing energy prices.
The 2026 China International Mining Conference opened in Tianjin, with representatives from 60 countries and organizations around the world participating. The conference issued the "Tianjin Declaration on Green Mining Development", advocating to promote the global mining industry to transform into a green and low-carbon industry.
During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, hydrogen energy was included in the non-fossil energy supply system for the first time. The construction of my country's first cross-provincial pure hydrogen pipeline, the "West-to-East Hydrogen Transmission", has been stepped up, and the hydrogen pipeline has been included in key national new energy infrastructure projects for the first time. Green hydrogen production capacity accounts for more than half of the world's total, and two new hydrogen energy industries have been announced by the state.
The first batch of 88 high-power charging demonstration stations for electric heavy trucks in Shandong Province were completed at the end of August, marking the formal completion of the “circular corridor” for green energy replenishment of electric heavy trucks in the province. From January to August this year, Shandong added a total of 13,600 electric heavy trucks, a year-on-year increase of 212%, and a penetration rate of 33%.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs convened a review meeting on the demolition permit for special buildings of existing coal-fired units in Taichung Power Plant. It hopes that the central and local governments will join hands to move toward a coal-free vision.
As of July 2026, Shanxi's wind and solar new energy installed capacity reached 80.94 million kilowatts, accounting for more than half of the total installed capacity. During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, Shanxi will add 100 million kilowatts of renewable energy installed capacity and continue to promote the transformation from a coal-rich province to an energy-rich province.
