The competition for admission to pedagogical universities in Russia for bachelor's, specialist's and basic higher education programs in the 2026 admissions campaign amounted to more than 7 people per place, said Sergei Antonov, deputy director of the personnel policy department of the Ministry of Education of Russia.

On Thursday, a press conference was held at the International Multimedia Press Center of the Rossiya Segodnya media group on the results of the admissions campaign for the 2026/27 academic year at pedagogical universities.

“This year it is also characteristic that 15 applications were submitted for each area of ​​training (for a budget place - ed.). For one budget place last year, in 2025, there were 12 applications for competition. Based on the results of admission to undergraduate, specialist and basic higher education programs (competition - ed.), there were more than 7 people - applicants - for one place," Antonov said.
