China News Service, Johannesburg, September 26. The 2026 Global South Modernization Forum will be held on September 30 in Cairo, Egypt. The theme of the forum will be "The Wave of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges in the Modernization of the Global South."

This forum is co-sponsored by the State Council Information Office, the Central Party School (National Academy of Administration), the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Renmin University of China, and Cairo University. Domestic and foreign experts and scholars are invited to conduct discussions and exchanges on the development path of the modernization of the Global South in the era of artificial intelligence. It aims to promote the global South countries to join hands in modernization and gather more wisdom to promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

The forum will have a main forum and four parallel forums. The main topics cover promoting artificial intelligence to empower thousands of industries, using artificial intelligence to improve people's livelihood and well-being, making good use of artificial intelligence to promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, building a solid bottom line for security, and bridging the digital intelligence gap.

At that time, about 100 experts and scholars from domestic and foreign social science research institutions, high-end think tanks, and universities are expected to attend. In addition to forum discussions, supporting activities such as achievement collection, academic visits, think tank exchanges, and youth seminars will also be held to further expand the breadth and depth of exchanges and cooperation.
