European Commissioner Dombrovskis said that Ukraine's budget needs for 2026 are largely met

European Commissioner for Economic Affairs Valdis Dombrovskis told the Euractiv portal that Ukraine's basic budget needs for 2026 have already been financed, despite Kyiv's statements about an additional deficit of $27 billion.

"Overall, Ukraine's budget needs for this year appear to be largely covered," Dombrovskis told the outlet this week, adding that Kyiv still needs additional military support.

As Euractiv notes, the European Commission and the International Monetary Fund, after several weeks of discussions, have not yet been able to confirm the additional budget deficit of $27 billion announced by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. Brussels also did not support the proposals of a number of EU countries to accelerate payments from a previously agreed loan to Ukraine of 90 billion euros in this regard.
