Osan City will hold the 17th Doksanseong Cultural Festival on the 24th and 25th of next month.

Osan City announced on the 26th that it will hold the 17th Doksanseong Cultural Festival in the Segyo Dolmen Park area from the 24th to 25th of next month.

Hosted by the city and organized by the Osan Cultural Center, this cultural festival is Osan City's representative historical and cultural festival that has been held since 2010 to shed new light on the historical value of Doksanseong Fortress and Semadae.

The cultural festival will feature various performances and experience programs, a food market, and a flea market.

In particular, the city has decided to decorate this year's cultural festival with a variety of contents linking local historical resources such as Dolmen, Gwolrisa Temple, and the UN Forces First Battle Memorial Hall, as well as tourist attractions such as Mulhyanggi Arboretum and Five Color Market, in addition to the existing contents related to Doksanseong Fortress and Semadae, and is currently preparing a detailed event plan.

The Doksanseong Cultural Festival, held every October, was canceled last year due to Doksanseong Fortress wall repair work and rainfall.

Previously, from 2019 to 2021, it could not be held for three years due to African swine fever and COVID-19.

Doksanseong Fortress, which is believed to have been built during the Three Kingdoms Period, was a strategic military point on the road leading to the capital city of the Joseon Dynasty and was rebuilt and rebuilt during the reigns of King Seonjo and King Jeongjo.

There are five castle gates around the castle (inner circumference) of about 1km, and it was designated as National Historic Site No. 140 in 1964.

This is the place where the Semadae (洗馬臺) oral tradition has been handed down that during the Japanese invasions of Korea, in order to hide the unfavorable condition of having no spring water in the castle, General Kwon Yul poured white rice on his horse and tricked the Japanese army into retreating by pretending that there was a lot of water.
