(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Jeong Joon-young = Seoul Seocho-gu (district mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 22nd that it will hold a 'Public-Private Cooperation Chuseok Sharing and Care Project' for the underprivileged to celebrate Chuseok.

Comprehensive social welfare centers, neighborhood community centers, and community security councils participate together to provide holiday donations, gifts, and food to vulnerable groups, and visit their families to check on their well-being.

The district provides holiday donations and gifts worth 30,000 to 100,000 won per household, depending on the conditions of each district and the recipient's situation, targeting the lower class and low-income households who are easily in the blind spot of public support.

Community community centers, community security councils, and volunteers also visit the elderly and vulnerable groups living alone with carefully prepared holiday packages. In Bangbae 1-dong and Naegok-dong, food packages containing seasonal fruits, assorted pancakes, beef bulgogi, and songpyeon are delivered.

In Banpo 1-dong, customized neighborhood-specific projects are being carried out, such as the ‘filial piety beauty salon’ for the elderly and the ‘single-person household cooking walk’ where people cook holiday meals together.

Comprehensive social welfare centers also provide special holiday meals to vulnerable groups and operate holiday programs with residents.

Seocho Food Bank Market Center will install a 'Donation Sharing Box' at each neighborhood community center so that any resident can easily participate in sharing and will operate it until the 7th of next month.

Food and daily necessities donated to this box are delivered to vulnerable groups such as seniors living alone and the disabled.

District Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “I hope that the warmth of sharing spreads widely and that all residents have a warm and bountiful Chuseok.” He added, “We will continue to work together with the public and private sectors to create a detailed welfare system that carefully looks after our neighbors in need.”
