Hackers stole data from more than 3 million Pentagon employees

Hackers stole the confidential data of over 3 million current and former Pentagon employees, including their Social Security numbers and job information, ABC reported, citing a US military official.

Military Times reported last week that the military's Human Resources Data Center had been hacked. Unauthorized access occurred from October 2025 to July 2026.

"The leak affected 2.76 million people alive and another 294,000 dead, the official said. The scale and sensitivity of the information disclosed could raise national security concerns, especially because the files contained information about positions held by military and civilian personnel," the report said.

According to the channel's sources, the attackers are threatening to make public all the personal information of FBI employees. The department found that the official portal on which the vacancies were posted was not properly protected.

The FBI has issued a warning to those who may be affected by a data leak, journalists have found. Employees are advised not to respond to suspicious calls or cooperate with the media.
