Yunlin County expands the promotion of puppetry in kindergartens from 30 to 40

Yunlin is the hometown of puppetry. This year, the County Government’s Cultural and Cultural Affairs Department has expanded the scale of kindergarten promotion through the “Dream-Realizing Puppetry Promotion”, from the previous 30 to 40. Currently, 29 performances have been completed. Through lively and interesting puppet performances and experiences, children can get to know the puppets up close. The county government said that when school starts in September, the last 11 performances will also be staged in succession. It will continue to bring children into contact with traditional arts and plant the seeds of puppetry culture in the hearts of children.

Xie Mingxuan, director of the Department of Culture and Tourism, said that this year, six outstanding teams were invited to participate, including Xingxing Pavilion Palm Theater Company, Zhouming Garden, Shengping Wuzhou Garden, Huang Shizhi TV Puppet Theater Company, Wuzhou Xiaotaoyuan Palm Theater Company and Today Palm Theater Company. Through the different performance characteristics of each group, and styles, bringing diverse experiences; at the same time, second-generation young artists are arranged to participate in performances, accumulating stage experience and opportunities to communicate with young audiences, allowing children to see the vitality and creativity of puppet show performers from different generations, and injecting young energy into the inheritance of puppet show.

Xie Mingxuan pointed out that 29 of the 40 performances this year have been completed since June, with more than 3,400 children participating. There will be 11 relay performances in September. Through lively plots, puppets and interactive experiences, children will be led to learn about puppetry from "watching the show", and feel the charm of traditional art in laughter and surprise, and let the seeds of culture sprout in the hearts of children.

County Magistrate Zhang Lishan said that cultural inheritance needs to be cultivated from an early age, and it also needs to continue to provide a stage for young talents to show off. For many years, the county government has promoted puppetry to take root in education, from kindergartens, schools to communities, gradually expanding the number of people exposed to traditional art, so that traditional art can continue to move forward under the dual-track promotion of cultivating audiences and talents.
