The intensive autumn repair work on the Wari Railway of Shanxi Coal Sinotrans heavy-haul channel has ended

China News Service, Taiyuan, September 23 (Wang Kai and Wen Qifei) At 8:30 on September 23, the concentrated repair and construction of the Wari Railway on the Shanxi Coal Sinotrans heavy-haul channel in the fall of 2026 was completed, laying a solid foundation for the line foundation for ensuring the supply and transportation of electricity and coal in the upcoming winter.

The Wari Railway starts from Wattang Town, Xing County, Luliang City, Shanxi Province in the west, to Rizhao Port in Shandong Province in the east, passing through the three provinces of Shanxi, Henan and Shandong. It is an important passage for the transportation of coal from the west to the east. It is also China's first heavy-haul railway with an axle load of 30 tons built at one time.

The centralized repair and maintenance of the Wari Railway started on September 4. During the 20 days, 3 hours a day were used to carry out all-round and three-dimensional update and maintenance of various facilities and equipment on the entire line. A total of 26.313 kilometers of large machine cleaning, 255.51 kilometers of large machine tamping lines, 120 groups of large machine tamping turnouts, and 323.35 kilometers of large machine grinding lines have been completed. Various facilities and equipment have received in-depth "physical examinations" and extensive updates and upgrades.

During the centralized repair and construction period, the National Railway Taiyuan Bureau invested a total of more than 80 large machinery, more than 30 small machinery and a construction team of 1,660 people to improve operating efficiency. At the same time, the entire process of centralized repair and construction is carefully managed, and the train operation plan is dynamically optimized on a daily basis to ensure that operations can be resumed quickly after the construction is completed and to reduce the impact of construction on transportation.

It is understood that the Wari railway transportation capacity continues to be released. After the annual freight volume exceeded 100 million tons in 2022 and 2023, the freight volume will reach 100.07 million tons in 2025, achieving annual transportation volume of over 100 million tons for the third time. In the first eight months of this year, the Vari Railway completed a cumulative freight volume of 75.3299 million tons, playing an active role in ensuring energy security.
