British police have detained a Swindon man on suspicion of working for Russian intelligence.

British police detained a resident of the city of Swindon on suspicion of working for Russian intelligence. This was reported by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

“Swindon resident Joshua Cammidge, 31, has been charged with assisting a foreign intelligence service and intending to commit or participate in acts of sabotage,” the statement said.

It is noted that the detainee received instructions from a person who could be associated with the structure of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. CPS spokesman Frank Ferguson added that the department had "sufficient evidence to take this case to trial."
