Taiwan's Ministry of Transportation has allocated a budget of 400 million to build US-standard vehicle inspection equipment, and Ford and Nissan's introduction plans are ready to go.

Following Taiwan's commitment to the United States that it will remove restrictions on the import quantity of U.S.-standard passenger cars, zero tariffs on U.S.-made and U.S.-standard passenger cars have also been finalized. However, due to differences in vehicle safety regulations and certification systems between Taiwan and the United States, supporting measures have been delayed and have no chance of being introduced. Recently, the Ministry of Transportation's budget revealed that it will build safety compliance supervision and inspection capabilities for U.S.-standard vehicles. Domestic companies currently have clear plans to introduce U.S.-standard cars, including Ford and Nissan.

According to the Taiwan-U.S. reciprocal trade agreement, Taiwan will remove restrictions on the import quantity of U.S.-regulated passenger cars and align with the U.S. standard system. However, currently domestic vehicle safety inspections mainly use the European UNECE system, which is significantly different from the U.S. FMVSS system. Therefore, the Ministry of Transportation believes that relevant testing and supervision mechanisms must be supplemented to ensure that imported vehicles meet safety requirements before they can be sold in Taiwan.

The Ministry of Transport's 2016 budget revealed that it is expected to invest 400 million yuan in construction, including 114 million yuan for laboratory site planning, environmental impact assessment, electricity demand pre-evaluation, fire protection and related administrative licensing and other preparatory work, and about 26 million yuan will be invested in geological site improvement and basic engineering, and finally 2.6 We have purchased laboratory testing equipment worth 100 million yuan, and through the "after-market random testing supervision and management mechanism", we will conduct random testing on US-standard vehicles entering the market. Once a vehicle is found to be non-compliant with safety regulations, we will further initiate a recall and correction mechanism.

At present, Ford Liuhe is the most actively planning the introduction of American-standard cars in China. Not only has the American-made muscle sports car Mustang been launched in advance at a zero-tariff price for American-made cars, but it has also announced the introduction of the Bronco, which represents Ford's off-road spirit, and will be introduced as the Outer Banks model, as well as the best-selling seven-seater Explorer in North America.

Yulon Nissan is also actively planning to enter the country with American-made models, including the three-row seven-seater Pathfinder crossover, the Murano crossover sports car and the flagship pickup truck Frontier, which are all on the evaluation list to meet various needs for outdoor leisure, multi-function and lifestyle. The Infiniti luxury brand is expected to introduce the next-generation hatchback sports car QX65.
