British counter-terrorism police are investigating the alleged possible connection of those detained in connection with the incident at Fairford Air Force Base with Iran, while no evidence of such a connection has been presented, Sky News reports, citing its own source.

British police previously announced the arrest of five people on suspicion of committing crimes under the Explosives Act. US President Donald Trump said the detainees were under investigation by US intelligence agencies.

"According to Sky News, counter-terrorism police are investigating whether Iran is linked to an alleged conspiracy around an air force base where American bombers are stationed," a publication on the channel's website says.

The channel does not provide information on what the assumption of an alleged possible connection is based on.
