This visit was prepared to inspect Chonnam National University's 'Create 10 Seoul National Universities' package support university project implementation plan and discuss ways to nurture talent and cooperate with industry, academia, and research institutes in connection with mega projects in the southwestern region and regional growth engines.

At the meeting, ▲ plans to operate a contract department to foster core semiconductor talent ▲ establishment of a joint research center with companies in the semiconductor and energy fields ▲ plans for cooperation with participating institutions such as Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) and Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KENTECH) ▲ artificial intelligence (AI) base university and shared university system in the southwestern region will be discussed.

In addition, we plan to listen to on-site difficulties from local anchor companies such as Samsung Electronics and Amkor Korea and university officials and review practical support measures.

Previously, Minister Choi visited Chungnam National University on the 8th and held a meeting regarding the package support university project.

The Ministry of Education announced on the 1st of this month that Pusan ​​National University, Chonnam National University, and Chungnam National University were finally selected as universities to receive package support for the so-called 'Create 10 Seoul National Universities' package.

An additional budget of approximately 70 billion won per university will be invested in the three universities this year, and approximately 80 billion won per university will be provided annually from next year to 2030.
