The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs published a fragment of a telephone conversation with scammers. The department showed a typical scenario in the Telegram channel “Bulletin of the Cyber ​​Police of Russia.”

In a fragment of a telephone conversation, the fraudster introduced herself as an employee of the State Services portal. She told the potential victim that she had noticed suspicious activity on her account - logging in via SMS. Then the scammer asked the interlocutor to confirm that she had indeed logged into her account from another device. Having received a negative answer, she began to find out whether her potential victim had provided anyone with SMS codes.

At the end of the conversation, the scammer advised the interlocutor to call the hotline number that was sent to her in the message. However, in reality this number is fake, the Ministry of Internal Affairs warned.

“In practice, the Gosuslugi portal does not send users notifications about an account being “hacked” - neither by SMS, nor by email, nor via instant messengers. If you receive a message in which you are threatened with account blocking, data leakage or other problems and persistently demand that you urgently call the specified “hotline number,” this is clearly the action of scammers,” the department also recalled.
