The Iranian Foreign Minister responds sarcastically to Trump's threats to impose economic sanctions

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi responded in a “sarcastic” manner once again to US President Donald Trump’s threats to impose “crushing economic sanctions against Iran,” indicating that it is doomed to failure like others.

Araqchi posted, through his official account on the “X” platform, previously Twitter, a screenshot of a post by former US President Barack Obama that included imposing “the most devastating sanctions in history” on Iran.

Abbas Araghchi wrote in his post, commenting on Obama’s post:

- “14 years ago: “The most crippling sanctions in history” failed.

- 8 years ago: The “maximum pressure policy” failed.

- 5 months ago: “Unconditional surrender” failed.

Today: “the most crushing measures in history” are doomed to failure.

The Iranian Foreign Minister concluded his post by saying: “We have seen this movie before, the same nonsense, but with different bullies,” as he put it.

The US President had previously threatened to launch the "most crushing economic operation" against Iran, in a post on social media. He also warned that countries that continue to do business with Tehran would face economic consequences.

Meanwhile, Iran rejected the US President’s threat to launch an “economic landing day,” describing it as “a recipe for a terrible return to comprehensive traditional colonialism.”

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqai said on Friday that the United States’ announcement of new economic sanctions against the country represents “the imposition of extraterritorial sovereignty on every independent member state of the United Nations.”
