On the second anniversary of the death of Tucheng Junior High School student Yang Chengxun, his parents held a concert and donated 5 million to establish scholarships and bursaries.

Yang Chengxun, a Grade 9 student at Qingshui High School in Tucheng District, New Taipei City, died of serious injuries in a school incident two years ago, leaving his parents, relatives and friends with endless pain. Yang's father and mother chose to hold a "Remember Your Singing Is Still Singing" memorial concert for Yang Chengxun on his 18th birthday. They also allocated 5 million yuan from donations from the public as the school's Qinghan Scholarship, hoping that Yang Chengxun's youth and smile would bring love and warmth to social education.

He hopes that everyone can work together to build a safer campus environment and give schools more power to protect children. The Education Bureau will help make Yang Chengxun’s incident and lessons into teaching materials and promote them nationwide.

Yang’s father said that Yang Chengxun was the head of the discipline section of Class 904 of Qingshui High School. He was a sunny, serious and responsible child. On December 25, 2023, in order to maintain order in the class, he was attacked by a fellow student with a knife in the classroom. He died after being sent to the hospital. "From that day on, we can no longer wait for him to come home from school."

Yang’s father said that his family misses Chengxun and hopes everyone will remember him. The family made three demands. First, they hope that the original classroom will be established as the "Yang Chengxun Memorial Classroom" so that children who come here can learn respect, empathy and self-protection, and know who to turn to for help when they are in danger. They also hope that the courses and experience can be brought to more schools so that the memory of Chengxun can become a force to protect children.

The second request is to turn Yang Chengxun’s story into a teaching material so that children can learn to ask for help and protect themselves. Request 3: Give teachers the right and institutional support to discipline in accordance with the law. To protect school security from the source, teachers are the front line of daily teaching, class management and crisis identification. There must be a dedicated person in charge of school security, and front-line personnel must be empowered, have resources, and have backing. "We advocate protecting teachers' legal, reasonable, and proportional guidance and discipline and necessary authority to stop them," so that teachers will not retreat into defensive teaching just to protect themselves because they are worried about being falsely reported.
