Yesterday, a 50-year-old woman surnamed Zhao was seriously injured in an ambush and sniper attack by a female gunman near her residence on Shuiyuan Road in Taipei City. The husband of Ms. Zhao, surnamed Chen, who was arrested in the case, has been arrested by the police. In his confession, he still denied the behind-the-scenes planning and hiring of gunmen. However, based on the evidence collected by the police, the whereabouts of the escaped shooter, Mr. Chen and the female gunman, have been traced. As for whether the first female killer in the history of domestic security is Chen Nan's lover or employer, the police are gradually filtering and closing the net to pursue her.
Ms. Zhao left her residence on Shuiyuan Road in Zhongzheng District, Bei City at about 2 pm on the 11th. When she walked to a nearby alley, she was suddenly attacked by an unknown person wearing a black down jacket, a ball cap and a mask with a gun. One of the shots hit Ms. Zhao in the abdomen, and the other shot jammed. Passers-by immediately called the police upon seeing this. Police investigation revealed that Zhao, the middle partner, worked in a snack bar and had been married to Chen, who ran a waterproofing project, for more than ten years. The two had a son and a daughter. However, because Chen had ignored his children for a long time and rarely went home, the two often had disputes over financial and emotional issues and had been separated for a long time. During this period, Ms. Zhao made accusations of domestic violence and stalking against Mr. Chen, but the case was not filed due to insufficient evidence. Later, the police interrogated Ms. Zhao about how she was sniped. The police collected evidence based on surveillance footage and found that many of the gunman's movements and characteristics matched those of a woman. After committing the crime, the gunman first fled on foot to a nearby alley, then jumped into a car and fled the scene. Based on the vehicle registration data, the police found out that the owner of the vehicle was Ms. Zhao's husband surnamed Chen. The two criminals were more involved in the crime, and they fled together towards the new store.
The police stepped up their arrest force and arrested Mr. Chen, who was suspected of responding to the gunman, at the Tai'an rest stop at around 6 p.m. that day. They traced the gunman's whereabouts. The police also knew the female gunman's escape route. In fact, not long after the crime was committed, the female gunman got off the car in the Zhongyonghe area of New Taipei City.
Police investigation revealed that Chen Nan first let the female gunman off the bus in the Zhongyonghe area of New Taipei City. After the female gunman disguised herself, she carried a cross-body bag and a handbag, and boarded the train from Nanshijiao MRT Station. She was last seen in the Sanchong area of New Taipei City. However, Chen Nan drove the car all the way to Xindian on National Highway 3, and then turned to National Highway 5 toward Yilan.
In order to create a breaking point, Chen Nan turned back from Yilan to National Highway No. 1 and headed south in the direction of Hsinchu. He stopped at the Tai'an rest stop. The special personnel of the North City Police who were following him saw him get out of the car and immediately arrested him. Late last night, he was escorted back to Taipei City for questioning, and Chen Nan's rental house and warehouse were searched.
In the police call, Chen Nan did not cooperate with the investigation and insisted on denying involvement in the case in the face of the evidence submitted by the police. However, the police have identified the female gunman, who is about 40 years old, and are further investigating the relationship between the two. At the same time, they are fully tracing the whereabouts of the other party.
