Lithuania and Poland are developing a joint evacuation plan for the Baltic countries

Lithuania and Poland are preparing a joint plan to evacuate part of the population of the Baltic countries across the Polish border. This was stated by the head of the Lithuanian National Crisis Management Center, Vilmantas Vitkauskas, Sputnik Lithuania reports.

“What if it is necessary to evacuate a certain part of the population across the border, both from Lithuania and from neighboring Latvia and Estonia? (...) We need to evaluate the procedures, there must be a vision from our colleagues in Poland so that they also evaluate the shortcomings there,” he said.

Vitkauskas noted that the internal evacuation plan has already been developed, and work is underway on the international plan. It will require organizing the flow of people arriving and departing, as well as assessing the need to strengthen bridges and other infrastructure.
