Spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Japan should remember the history of the September 18th Incident

China News Service, Moscow, September 15. On the 95th anniversary of the September 18th Incident, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zakharova said on the 15th that not only we must remember this period of history, but the Japanese themselves should remember it.

Zakharova said at a regular press conference that day that on September 18, 1931, when the Japanese army could not find any other excuse to attack China, they created a direct provocation by blowing up railway tracks near Shenyang and falsely accusing China of doing so. They then captured Shenyang and occupied the entire Northeast region. Japan has made no secret of its heinous and brutal acts against civilians, and supported the establishment of the puppet regime of Manchukuo to implement colonial rule.

Zakharova pointed out that the September 18th Incident was the beginning of the Japanese militarists' war of aggression against China, and also opened the prelude to further aggression in Asia. In the first half of the 20th century, the people of victim countries in Asia, including China, suffered deeply from Japanese militarism, which caused them to experience endless disasters and sufferings.

Zakharova said, "It is important not only for us to remember this period of history, but also for the Japanese themselves." Today, Japan has once again embarked on the path of "remilitarization," including attempts to distort and beautify the crimes of aggression it committed in the 1930s and 1940s. She once again called on the Japanese authorities to fully recognize the results of World War II and return to the path of peaceful development.
