A Polish man shot wildly in a downtown area, killing 6 and injuring 16. The bodies of his parents and sister were found at home.

A shooting occurred in Krakow, Poland's second largest city, yesterday (7th). A heavily armed gunman opened fire in the central square and was later subdued by police officers. This incident resulted in a total of 6 deaths and 16 injuries. In addition, the police later found the remains of the gunman’s parents and sister in his home.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported that the police pointed out that the incident occurred at around 3 p.m. local time (10 p.m. Taiwan time on the 7th). After the gunman drove into the city center square, he "randomly fired into the crowd" from the car. Two police officers, Jakub Kulik and Artur Morański, arrived later and exchanged fierce fire with the gunman. In the end, the gunman was shot and fell to the ground, but the two police officers were also injured. One of them was shot three times and is in critical condition.

So far, 6 people have been confirmed dead and 16 injured. The dead include 1 British citizen and 3 Poles, and the remaining 2 people have not yet been identified. The injured include the gunman and 2 police officers who exchanged fire with the gunman. The other 5 are foreigners, respectively from Austria, the United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal and Russia.

According to information released by the police, the gunman was a 25-year-old Polish man who committed the crime armed with military weapons and dressed in military-style clothing. In addition, he had a large number of weapons and ammunition in his car, but he was not a soldier. Polish media claimed that the gunman had a gun license and that he may have obtained these firearms from home.

The police have not revealed the name of the gunman, but three bodies were found in the suspect's home afterwards, identified as his parents and his 21-year-old sister. A ministerial official pointed out that preliminary investigation results showed that the gunman was an "ultra-nationalist" and was influenced by far-right ideology.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Poland has never experienced such a serious terrorist attack in the past; Krakow Mayor Łukasz Gibała announced that the city has entered a period of mourning that will last until the 11th.
