Parking of large and heavy motorcycles will become more convenient in the future. The Taipei City Parking Management Office announced the "Pilot Plan 2.0 for Sharing Spaces for Locomotives and Large Heavy Machines." Starting from October 6, 2026, approximately 63,000 public roadside toll motorcycle spaces within the jurisdiction will be fully opened for the legal parking of red and yellow large heavy machines.

According to the new regulations, heavy-duty motorcycles can be parked at an angle and occupy 2 motorcycle compartments, and will be charged on a per-time basis, with a fee of 40 yuan each time. If you work 24 days a month, the monthly parking fee is about NT$960. Compared with the average monthly off-street parking lot of about NT$2,400, parking expenses can be reduced by about NT$1,440.

However, if the motorcycle body is larger or cannot be parked in the motorcycle compartment due to the installation of a rear box or other equipment, you can still choose to park in the car compartment and the parking rate will be charged according to the car parking rate.

The parking management office also reminded that this full opening is limited to public roadside toll motorcycle parking spaces, and not all motorcycle parking spaces are applicable. If a heavy-duty vehicle with a red or yellow plate is parked in a free motorcycle space in an unpaid alley, or in a special no-parking section, the police will, in accordance with Article 56 of the "Road Traffic Management Punishment Regulations", impose a fine of NT$600 to NT$1,200 for not parking according to the specified vehicle type, location or method.
