The head of the Kuzbass Triathlon Federation was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison in a case of bribery and theft.

KEMEROVO, September 30 – RIA Novosti. The president of the triathlon federation of the Kemerovo region was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison in a case of bribery to the management of the center of sports facilities (RCSS) of Kuzbass, follows from a message from the joint press center of the regional courts.

In January 2024, the joint press center of the Kuzbass courts reported that a third defendant had appeared in the bribery case - the president of the triathlon federation of the Kemerovo region, Nikolai Yaroshchuk. Later, the press service of the Russian Federation State Investigative Committee for the region reported that another person involved in the case had appeared.

As the court found, those involved in contracts with the organization that manages the largest sports facilities in Kuzbass from 2021 to 2023 “committed theft for a total amount of more than 18 million rubles.” One of them also bribed an official through an intermediary to create favorable conditions during procurement procedures.

“The court found the defendants guilty... In relation to one of them, he imposed a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 6 years 6 months to be served in a general regime correctional colony with a fine of 6 million rubles; in relation to the second defendant, he imposed a penalty of a fine in the amount of 12 million rubles,” the press center reported.

They were tried on 32 counts of fraud and bribery. The department clarified that claims totaling about 18 million rubles were also partially satisfied.

The press center of the courts does not name the names of those convicted, but law enforcement agencies clarified to RIA Novosti that Yaroshchuk received a real sentence. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
