Search operation begins for 6th day for 6 missing in tugboat capsize off Busan

The search for six people missing after the tugboat TNS Catcher capsized off the coast of Busan on the 2nd began for the sixth day.

The Busan Marine Police Station announced on the morning of the 7th that it began its 6th day of weekly search operations in the accident area.

Six ships and eight aircraft will be deployed. A storm warning was in effect off the coast of Busan, so only large ships weighing 1,000 tons or more were mobilized.

The Coast Guard established a 31 km wide and 65 km long area in the area of ​​the accident and conducted a maritime search, and deployed coastal rescue boats to search the coast. Due to poor weather conditions, underwater searches will not be conducted.

Search operations are not easy in the area of ​​the accident due to waves of 4 to 5 m and strong winds of 20 to 22 m per second.

The TNS Catcher capsized in the sea about 9km east of Oryukdo on the afternoon of the 2nd.

Of the eight crew members on board, one was rescued, but the other was found unconscious and died. The remaining six people are missing and have been searched for six days, but have not yet been found.
