Iran insists on conditions for reopening Strait of Hormuz and refuses to compromise on ceasefire agreement

Although U.S. President Trump has rejected Iran's seven-day ceasefire proposal involving the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, an important global energy waterway, Iran still insisted on its conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz on the 27th, and the war in the Middle East remains stalled.

Tehran's earlier proposal for a seven-day ceasefire included a cessation of hostilities in the Middle East, including Lebanon, and the restoration of conditions in the previous ceasefire agreement that collapsed a few months ago. This agreement, which expired due to renewed fighting in the Strait of Hormuz, required the unfreezing of Iranian assets, the lifting of the oil embargo on Iran, and the end of the U.S. naval blockade of Iran.

Iran's official media "Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting and Television" (IRIB) reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on the 27th that Iran's conditions are very clear, that is, any measures to reopen the Strait of Hormuz must meet these conditions. "We will not compromise on these conditions... We have never closed the door to diplomacy or negotiations, but at the same time, we will never give up on defending our rights."

Trump rejected the ceasefire agreement on the 26th, and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz accused Tehran of demanding exorbitant prices in exchange for returning to the negotiating table.

But Araqchi said that Iran "saw the initial reaction of the US president, but so far has not received any message from the mediating country (the US)". Araqchi said that Iran is waiting for a clear position from the United States from the mediating country and will make decisions accordingly.
