Tokayev instructed to develop a plan for large-scale military reform in Kazakhstan

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the command system of the armed forces needs a complete overhaul, taking into account best international experience, and ordered to present a military reform plan within ten days to form a new type of army.

“Our army has frozen in the last century. At the same time, we need to completely rebuild the command system in accordance with best international experience. An integrated approach is needed, for this you need to have a vision, and only competent officers with a broad outlook have a vision. The goal of the reform is the formation of a new type of army,” Tokayev said at a meeting with the leadership of the defense department.

In addition, the president ordered the transition of the army to digital technologies and the introduction of new approaches, abandoning template solutions, “indicative” maneuvers and formal reports.

According to the press service of the head of Kazakhstan, Tokayev instructed the staff of the Security Council, together with the Ministry of Defense, to submit a plan for military reform within ten days.
