The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation increased the hours of initial military training in schools to 68 in four years

The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation has increased the number of hours for basic military training in schools. Starting this academic year, a four-year course for grades 8-11 will be taught 68 hours in the subject “Fundamentals of Security and Defense of the Motherland,” department head Sergei Kravtsov told RIA Novosti.

It is clarified that this course is included in the program of basic general education and secondary general education and is studied exclusively in grades 8-11.

“We have increased the number of hours for initial military training. Starting from this academic year, 50% of the course “Fundamentals of Security and Defense of the Motherland” is allocated to it, that is, over four academic years this is 68 hours,” Kravtsov said.

Thus, the course will be taught for 34 hours in grades 8-9 and the same amount in grades 10-11.

Previously, 20% of the time was allocated for initial military training in schools within the subject “Fundamentals of Security and Defense of the Motherland.”
