NATO representative responded to Russia's warning about Kaliningrad

The representative of the North Atlantic Alliance, Alison Hart, responded to Russia’s warning related to the situation around the Kaliningrad region. According to her, NATO received an official warning from Moscow and has already sent a response to it, TASS reports.

In her statement, Hart emphasized that the alliance has once again designated its status as exclusively “defensive”, and its activities do not pose a threat to the Russian Federation. At the same time, the representative of the bloc confirmed the unchanged course of continuing arms supplies to Ukraine and guaranteeing the protection of “every inch” of the territory of NATO member states.

The reason for the exchange of statements was a message issued on September 28 by the Russian Embassy in Brussels. The Russian diplomatic mission warned that the current course of the North Atlantic Alliance significantly increases the risks of direct armed conflict. The document noted that in the event of any attempts to isolate the Kaliningrad region from the rest of the Russian Federation, Moscow will be forced to use the entire arsenal of means at its disposal.

In addition, the Russian diplomatic mission noted an unprecedented increase in the bloc’s military activity near Russia’s western borders. Diplomats pointed to the intensification of exercises to test offensive scenarios, as well as a noticeable tightening of rhetoric on the part of Western politicians.
