Recently, the Guangzhou Municipal People's Procuratorate has launched a public prosecution against "Aunt Mei" on suspicion of child abduction and trafficking. On September 8, a media communication meeting on the "Aunt Mei" case was held. Shen Junliang and Shen Cong's attorney Yao Kefeng jointly disclosed relevant information about the case. Shen Junliang and Yao Kefeng said at the communication meeting that "Aunt Mei" acted cunningly, held multiple identities, and used false aliases many times. She was finally caught in a rental house and made a living by picking up garbage when she was caught.
On September 9, a reporter from CCTV visited the rental place where "Aunt Mei" lived before she was arrested. The reporter saw on the spot that the house he rented before being arrested was located on the first floor of an urban village in Guangzhou. The area of the house was less than 10 square meters by visual inspection. There were two bunk beds and a table in the house. There are currently other tenants living in the house. The current tenant told reporters that the rent for the house was 550 yuan a month. When he moved in, he had a bunk bed and a table. He did not know anything about the previous tenant.
Many surrounding residents said that "Aunt Mei" made a living selling fruits and picking up waste before she was arrested. "She was accompanied by her 20-year-old son," and she rarely talked about household matters with her neighbors.
During the visit, a fruit vendor told reporters that "Aunt Mei" usually pushes a rickshaw to sell fruits at night, mainly mangoes, and will sell them until around 12 midnight. He has been in contact with "Aunt Mei". "When I see her, I just say hello and don't talk about anything else."
The landlord of the house said that he rented the house through formal channels and "Aunt Mei" had lived here for more than a year. "I don't know what she committed. The police informed me that they had taken her away and asked me to take back the house. I waited for 3 to 4 months before taking back the house." The landlord said, "The rental contract and other information were taken away by the police."
