Two Palestinians were injured, one of them critically, this morning (Sunday), as a result of an Israeli drone bombing a group of citizens near the White Mosque in the Beach Camp, west of Gaza City, while the death toll from the war exceeded 74,000 people.

The Palestinian News and Information Agency (Wafa) quoted local sources as saying: “A citizen was injured, at dawn today, as a result of the bombing of a march near the tents of displaced persons in the vicinity of the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood market, north of Gaza City.”

In this context, Israeli forces targeted areas south of Khan Yunis with artillery shelling, while their vehicles opened fire east of the city, coinciding with artillery shelling and intense shooting targeting the Mawasi Rafah area, south of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli helicopters also opened heavy fire east of Gaza City, while tanks and gunboats opened fire towards the northwestern areas of the city.

In the northern Gaza Strip, Israeli vehicles opened heavy fire west of Beit Lahia.

This comes at a time when the Palestinian death toll as a result of the war that has been ongoing for nearly three years between Israel and Hamas has exceeded 74,000 dead, according to data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Although the ceasefire agreement - which entered into force on October 10 - has stopped the most intense fighting, Israeli strikes are still continuing in what the Israeli army describes as a response to threats or attacks, according to the American Associated Press.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced yesterday, Saturday, that the death toll of Palestinians had risen to 74,016 people, in addition to the injury of 175,068 others. The war broke out on October 7, 2023, when militants led by Hamas launched an attack on Israel, killing about 1,200 people - most of them civilians - and taking 251 others hostage.

The ministry - which is affiliated with the Hamas-run government - stated that since the start of the ceasefire, 1,145 Palestinians have been killed. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirms that Israeli forces will not withdraw unless Hamas surrenders its weapons.

Israel is preparing for a long-term occupation in southern Lebanon, where it has created a buffer zone outside the “yellow line,” which is a scorched land in which residents do not reside, and does not include any homes or civilian facilities.

A security source in southern Lebanon told Asharq Al-Awsat that targeting those towns located in contact with the “yellow line,” expelling residents from them and turning them into destroyed and dangerous areas “means that Israel is planning to thwart any attempt to use them to launch operations against its forces in the occupied region in the south.”

Meanwhile, opponents of Hezbollah revealed that it is suffering from a leadership crisis after the assassination of its former Secretary General, Hassan Nasrallah, and today (Sunday) the party is commemorating the second anniversary of his assassination.

The party did not succeed in compensating him after it turned the General Secretariat into a center of political, organizational, military and popular gravity.
