Hsinchu City Minghao Rice Noodles today issued an open letter to consumers, explaining the entire formaldehyde incident, improving measures and returning the goods. Preliminary research has determined that the formaldehyde residue may be related to the original drying process. The company has switched to equipment and conducted environmental monitoring to confirm that the formaldehyde concentration complies with regulations. Minghao Enterprise is deeply sorry for the concerns and uneasiness caused by this incident about product safety, and emphasizes that the company will not avoid problems or shirk responsibility. It will use this incident as a warning to continue to strengthen food safety management and strive to regain the trust of consumers.
Minghao Enterprise Co., Ltd. stated that it received notification from the health authorities in early June that formaldehyde residues were detected in some products. It was deeply surprised and concerned about the results. After the incident, the company immediately cooperated with the relevant requirements of the competent authorities and actively handled product recovery and subsequent destruction operations.
At present, relevant products have been recycled in accordance with regulations, including qualified and unqualified products. After the items and weights of all products to be destroyed are reported to the Health Bureau for approval, all are entrusted to qualified environmental protection operators to assist in transportation and destruction. The flow of products is strictly controlled to prevent recycled products from entering the market again. We also thank everyone for your concern and tolerance.
Minghao Enterprise stated that it has been operating in the rice noodle industry for a long time and has always upheld integrity, conscience and a responsible attitude towards food safety, and has never maliciously added formaldehyde-containing substances. After the incident, the company immediately conducted inspections on raw materials, food additives and semi-finished products, and the relevant inspection results were all "not detected."
After re-examining the product manufacturing process, it was initially determined that the formaldehyde residue may be related to the drying process. In order to completely reduce possible contamination risks, the company has discussed with relevant physics, chemistry and food professionals and replaced the traditional drying equipment that used gas as the heat source with steam heat exchange drying equipment. At the same time, it has improved related equipment and processes. It has also commissioned Dianshi Technology Company to conduct environmental monitoring and confirm that the formaldehyde concentration in the drying room is <0.02ppm, in compliance with regulations.
In order to protect the rights and interests of consumers, Minghao Enterprise has completed the recycling and destruction planning of relevant products. The return methods are as follows:
1. Unqualified batches of products: Products that are confirmed to be unqualified batches of formaldehyde detected this time are not subject to the return period and product validity period, and can be returned. The product name and batch number are as shown in the attached table.
2. Other products that are not in unqualified batches: Returns of other products are also open, and returns will be accepted until September 30, 2026.
