Matsu Coast Guard rushed to the rescue late at night to escort villagers with chest tightness to seek medical treatment

At about 23:00 yesterday (21st), the 10th (Matsu) Coast Guard of the Fleet Branch of the Coast Guard received a notification from the 11th Patrol Area Headquarters of the Coast Guard and the Beigan Health Center that a female villager was suspected of stroke and myocardial infarction due to chest tightness. After evaluation by a doctor at the Beigan Township Health Center, Since the health center did not have specialist doctors and equipment, it needed to be immediately sent to the Lianjiang County Hospital for emergency treatment. Since there were no transportation ships between Matsu islands late at night, and the doctor assessed the patient's condition, it would be better to be evacuated by a coast patrol boat. Upon receiving the report, the Matsu Coast Guard dispatched a rescue boat to evacuate the patient to the county hospital for emergency treatment.

It was late at night and there were no traffic ships in Beigan Township. After receiving the report, the Matsu Coast Guard of the Fleet Branch immediately dispatched the online patrol boat PP-10072 to rescue the ship, and then arrived at Baisha from Beigan Baisha Port and the 10th Coast Patrol Team of Kinmapeng Branch. Personnel from the prosecutor's office and the Lianjiang County Fire Department worked together to pick up the patient and accompanying persons to board the boat, and returned to Nangan Fu'ao Port Terminal at the maximum safe speed. They worked together with county hospital personnel to put the patient into an ambulance and went to the county hospital for first aid.

The Matsu Coast Guard stated that the four villages and five islands of Matsu are shuttled by passenger ships. When maritime traffic is interrupted, if there are urgent medical needs, after professional doctor assessment, a boat will be immediately sent to assist in evacuation for medical treatment to meet the emergency medical needs of the villagers. The coast patrol shoulders the important responsibility of life-saving rescue and is the medical rescue support of the Matsu villagers.
