Investigation into suspicions of duplicate voting in the 9th national simultaneous local elections begins in Mokpo

According to the Jeonnam Provincial Election Commission, it was reported that a voter who completed early voting at a polling place in Sang-dong, Mokpo-si this morning also participated in the main voting.

Under the Public Official Election Act, duplicate voting by voting twice in the same election is not permitted.

The National Election Commission is investigating the exact circumstances, including checking the voting procedures and list management process at the time.

An official from the Jeonnam National Election Commission said, “We are currently checking the facts,” and “We plan to consider necessary measures based on the results of the investigation.”

Meanwhile, on this day, it was found that in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, other than cases of duplicate voting, no special incidents or accidents such as voter disturbance, voting obstruction, or damage to ballot papers were reported.
